Strength is not about never falling. It’s about falling, getting back up and keep moving forward.

I fell off my bike yesterday almost at the end of my out run… had almost made it to Atherton and the 6.2 miles. I got spooked by a car as I was trying to get to the sidewalk to avoid a double parked car and broke too hard.

The funny thing is that I was angry more than I was in pain. The ride had already been a washout in terms of training and the fall made it even crappier… damn I was pissed. But, as pissed as I was, I still got back on the bike and rode the rest of the planned route and the route back.

I guess the training wasn’t a complete washout yesterday. It reminded me about resilience, about moving forward regardless of what happens. In a race I will not have the benefit of stopping and starting over so I may as well get used to it.
